The Journey Begins.....
OUR STORY
Let me introduce myself and the inspiration behind Root Minerals ....
Some of you may already know our story. From meeting us personally at shows or be it a quick glance over our website. A makeup line truly inspired by love!...
Over 8 years ago my wife Amy was suffering from super sensitive skin...every time she applied makeup or something there would be a reaction, usually an outbreak of spots or an itching sensation…From here, it sparked off something deep within and set me on a mission to resolve it.
I asked the questions “how come you don’t wear makeup!?” her answer was literally the issue written above! With another response...”Why!? Do I need it?” To which I replied “Of course not babe! You’re a natural beauty!” (smooth...real smooth!)
So anyway, the frustration to keep applying makeup on top of makeup was getting all too much. On top of that, being a primary school teacher there wasn’t any need for full glam. Not worth all the hassle, so going makeup free was the way!
Having always been passionate about natural ingredients and analysing labels carefully, I was in shock to find many known “natural” brands containing harmful and unnecessary ingredients! Bismuth Oxychloride was the culprit causing issues! (Primarily with outbreak of spots and irritation)
The journey continued, learning everything from T-zones to skin structures and chromosomes to making mineral foundation. In the early days, countless time was spent “testing on the wife” with Turmeric powder and all sorts!
The knowledge and skills along the process helped me find her perfect skin match (which is our shade “Peanut!” in case you ever wondered!) People often ask us about our lovely product names, especially the lipsticks and eyeshadows. One super fun process indeed! Each one inspired by our love of nature and adventures around the world! It was a long and thoughtful process, but after all, who wants boring numbers for their products!?
We are proudly 100% VEGAN and AGAINST ANIMAL TESTING....however....
TESTING ON THE WIFE still continues...and she really enjoys it!
We launched with 36 foundation shades, 20+ Lipsticks, 50+ Eyeshadows and later added Mascara and Eyeliners.
A makeup range for ALL skin types, backgrounds and styles was born!
The journey has been an extremely eye opening and exciting one to say the least! It proves small brands like us can make a difference and manufacture a high quality makeup range for everyone in a more ethical and kinder way!

A company truly inspired by love! Founded by Jay Bharj and his passion for helping his wife find suitable makeup to help her sensitive skin led to an exciting journey into formulating a natural makeup range. Root Minerals launched for the first time in public at the Olympia Beauty Show in 2016!
On his journey, he discovered a great deal about the industry such as the use of harmful and cheap ingredients, nano-particles that can enter the bloodstream, the lack of shades available and more the shockingly the animal testing that was strangely common practice in the cosmetics arena. He often thought aloud, “Why can’t makeup actually benefit the skin!?” and from here a makeup collection catering for all skin types and undertones developed.
Keeping rooted to nature, sourcing ethically and using only the highest quality raw ingredients helped achieve many milestones and they proudly hold the Vegan Certificate.
Root Minerals now has a massive range over 50 super pigment Eyeshadows to Mascara and Eyeliners to 20+ organically infused lipsticks and 36 foundation shades to find a closer match, instead of just mixing shades allowing industry professionals and customers to create looks only others can dream of!
